GED TESTING
GENERAL EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT DIPLOMA (GED)
The General Education Development Test (GED) is offered only to persons who
have not graduated from an accredited high school or received a high school
equivalency certificate or diploma, are not currently enrolled in a regular high
school and are at least 16 years of age who are beyond the age of compulsory
high school attendance under state law. The GED is made up of five sections,
including writing, mathematics, social studies, science and literature. The
complete battery costs $65 or $13 for each portion of the exam taken. Each
retest is $13.
Registration and Orientation is required in advance before an individual can take
the GED Test. Day and evening sessions are available. During orientation you
will view a 20 calculator video, complete state required testing forms and select
and pay for your GED exams. Payment can be made with either cash or money
order. A current valid, government issued photo is required for registration.
Candidates approved for Underage testing need to bring their approval letter;
candidates who are 18 (including home school participants) must bring official
withdrawal form from last high school attended or a letter signed by the
superintendent/designee verifying completion or withdrawal from home study
program.
Upon successful completion of the GED you will receive, in the mail, your
official GED diploma and transcript. Also, you will receive a HOPE voucher for
$500 that may be used to pursue further education at any Georgia accredited
technical college or university.
