Legal Residents
See Rules Governing Legal Residency of Students For Tuition Purposes in the 2006-2007 College Catalog.
Senior Citizens
Residents of Georgia who are 62 years of age or older may request a waiver of tuition fees. This policy applies to regular and institutional credit courses only. It does not apply to continuing education courses, non-credit courses, or seminars. If tuition is waived under this policy, admission will be granted only on a space available basis. Senior Citizens must meet all other admission requirements as required in the school catalog and pay all other fees other than tuition. Proof of age must be presented at registration to receive a fee waiver.
Refund Policy/Credit Programs
All tuition and fees, excluding the application fee, shall be refunded if a student formally withdraws prior to the first instructional day of the quarter, or drops all classes during the three (3) day drop/add period. The drop/add period is the first three (3) instructional days at the beginning of each quarter. Students needing to drop a course or courses may drop/add the course online, contact their program advisor, or contact the registrar’s office during the drop/add period.
Application Fees
Students applying for admission to any credit course must pay an application fee of $15. This fee is waived for jointly enrolled high school students. The application fee is non-refundable.
Reapplication Fees
Students who withdraw from enrollment and desire re-entry must complete a reapplication and pay a $5.00 reapplication fee.
Registration Fees
A $26 registration fee will be charged to all students each quarter. Jointly enrollment students enrolled in HGTC courses will only pay two-thirds of the normal fee. This fee is not refundable.
Activity Fees
Students must pay an activity fee quarterly. The fee is $20 per quarter for students taking six or more credit hours. Students enrolled for less that six credit hours pay $10 quarterly. This fee is used to finance student activities (special events, some club activities, and graduation expense including students' caps and gowns) and student accident insurance. Joint enrollment students are only assessed this fee if they are taking courses taught by HGTC and then the fee is reduced to one-half (1/2) the normal fee.
Auditing Fees
Students who audit courses must pay the regular fees for enrollment in any course(s).
Late Registration Fees
New and returning students who fail to register on or before the "student beginning date" published in the HGTC calendar will be charged a $25 late fee.
Exemption Exam Fees
A student desiring to take an exemption examination (written, oral, and/or performance) must pay an exemption test fee. The fee will be $5 per course credit hour and must be paid in advance. This fee is non-refundable and not transferable. This fee will be waived for joint enrollment high school students.
Instructional Technology and Support Fee
A $35.00 quarterly fee for all students. The Instructional Technology Fee is NOT a HOPE (grant/scholarship) eligible fee. The fee must be paid by other financial aid such as PELL, cash, check, or credit card.
Transcripts
Any student who has discharged all financial obligations to the College is entitled to receive one transcript without charge upon written request. A charge of $2 will be made for each additional transcript requested. Please email the registrar's office or call 478-274-7868 for a copy of your transcript or additional information.
Transcripts may also be ordered via the Internet 24/7 through the National Student Clearinghouse for a minimal fee which is payable by credit or debit card.
Books
Textbooks and required supplies vary from program to program. An average cost is $225 to $300 per quarter. Textbooks can be purchased in the bookstore located on the main campus.
Supplies/Equipment/Other Costs
Some programs require special hand tools, parts kits, equipment, and payment of testing fees for mock/practice certification exams. Hand tools, parts kits, etc. are generally available for purchase in the bookstore.
Uniforms
Allied Health students must purchase College approved uniforms and equipment according to the regulations of their respective program.
Malpractice Insurance
Malpractice insurance is required for some Allied Health programs. The fee will be assessed at the time of registration for the quarter in which malpractice insurance is required.
Continuing Education Courses
Fees are charged for each continuing education course as indicated online in the announcement of course offerings for each quarter. In addition, students are required, in some instances, to purchase textbooks and supplies pertaining to their courses.
Financial Obligations
All students at Heart of Georgia Technical College have financial obligations to pay their fees each quarter whether by cash, check, credit card, company charge, or financial aid. No one will be admitted to class after the last day of registration if fees have not been PAID in FULL. Failure to fulfill financial responsibilities will result in denial of registration, transcripts, diplomas, and other services.
