Frequently-Asked Questions
If this is your first attempt at Online learning, you should take the READI Assessment.
READI is a tool which helps you determine your level of readiness for taking online courses. You will be asked questions on topics in the areas of how well you can use a computer; how motivated, organized, and self-directed you are; and how you prefer to learn new information. You will even be able to measure your on-screen reading speed and comprehension as well as your typing speed and accuracy.
Your scores on this assessment will not prevent you from being able to take online classes, nor will your scores impact your grades in courses you may already be taking. READI is just being provided by HGTC to help you understand your strengths and weaknesses better as you prepare to learn online. READI is a tool to help you succeed!
The start and end dates of online classes mirror those of the College's on-campus classes. You should have access to your Angel section no later than the first day of class. If you do not, email your instructor for an update on the status of the class.
A listing of online instructors and their classes is available at:
http://www.heartofgatech.edu/main/EdSrvs/Acad/2006online_course.cfm
You can find their Email addresses and phone numbers at:

If you need verification of attendance for Financial Aid (HOPE, Pell or VA), you must first meet attendance criteria with your online instructor (Example for HOPE: establish two-way email communications with your instructor, and be active in your Angel course). Once you have met these criteria submit an email request to your online instructor to verify your attendance.

There is also an Online Angel Student Manual.
There are several instances when this might happen.
- The first instance is when your instructor has not made the class available for your use. Email your instructor, if it is an online class, or speak with your instructor at your next class meeting, check on the status of the missing class(es).
- The second instance is when your instructor does not use Angel with your class. Not every instructor uses Angel with every on-campus class. Again, please contact your instructor for the status.
- The third instance is when you are not registered for the class. Please confirm with your instructor that you are on the current roster for the class.
You have three options.
- On the Angel login page, click the "Forgot your password? " link, and follow the instructions to reset your password.
- Contact your Angel instructor to reset your password.
- Technical Support.
From the computer at which you are having problems, please send a Technical Support Request through the GVTC Technical Support System. Someone will contact you with a solution or will forward your request to a higher level of Technical Support.
