Student Activities and Organizations

•  Student Government Association(SGA)

The Student Government Association is an organization made up of representatives from all occupational programs at Heart of Georgia Technical College. This organization serves as a student advisory committee and works on projects throughout the year to benefit the College and its students. The students enrolled in the program elect one representative and one alternate from each program area. Students may also participate in the annual statewide FALL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE.  Student Government on the Dublin Campus meets monthly.   For more information, contact the advisors - Janet Smith in Dublin, or Howard Abney at LOIC.

•  Phi Beta Lambda (PBL)

Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) is a national organization for business and information technology students. PBL provides opportunities to develop vocational competencies for business occupations. PBL also promotes a sense of civic and personal responsibility.

Membership is open to those students enrolled in business and information technology programs. Contact the instructors in the various business and information technology programs for more information or email the club advisors -  Belinda Gilbert and Beth Duggins .

•  Skills USA

This national student organization serves trade, industrial, technical, and allied health students, with membership open to any student interested in personal and professional development. Skills USA emphasizes leadership, dignity, workmanship, citizenship, and respect for others. Skills USA offers opportunities for community services through charitable organizations, local and national competitions, and leadership development. Local Skills USA winners compete in regional, state, and national competitions. Email the club advisor for more information - David Hall

•  National Technical Honor Society (NTHS)

The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is an honor organization for outstanding students enrolled in occupational, vocational, or technical programs. The purposes of NTHS are to promote service, leadership, honesty, career development, and skilled workmanship; to reward student achievement; to encourage and assist students in educational and career goal setting; to promote a stronger linkage between local technical institutions and business and industry; and to promote the image of technical education in America.

Membership is open to students from all degree, diploma, and technical certificate programs.

In addition to a national recognition for achievement, members can expect the benefit of local club activities, visibility of successful achievement by local business and industry persons, letter of recommendation from the national office when making application for employment or further education, and special recognition at graduation. •  Student Practical Nurses Association (SPNA)

The Heart of Georgia Technical College Student Practical Nurses Association promotes the practical nursing program at HGTC. Leadership and personal growth for the student nurses is promoted by participation in local and state activities. Contact any practical nursing advisor for more details or email the club advisor for more information - Sylvia Rozier.

•  BRIDGE ( Broadening and Redefining Individuality, Diversity, Goodwill and Excellence)

The acronym, BRIDGE, stands for Broadening and Redefining Individuality, Diversity, Goodwill, and Excellence. The BRIDGE Club is an organization that supports learners while they progress from developmental or provisional status to technical college graduate. BRIDGE promotes civic and personal responsibility and is open to developmental and provisional students who want to enhance their learning through involvement in community and self-improvement projects. •  HGTC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

All former credit and non-credit students of Heart of Georgia Technical College are considered alumni of the school. The Heart of Georgia Technical College Alumni Association assists HGTC by providing benefits to alumni and to current students, fostering a spirit of loyalty to HGTC, and coordinating activities of alumni in support of the College.
